Toronto – In 2022, Network Of Women in Basketball (NOW) received a $12,000 Resilient Communities Fund from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to design and implement a new hybrid structure basketball training program that includes both virtual and onsite training options to continue delivering our mission to make basketball accessible for our community in a safe and healthy way. The onsite training program started in the summer of 2022 and aims to provide the community access to smaller class sizes and ensure physical distancing.
In addition to the onsite training program, a new virtual training option will be introduced to the community. The virtual option will meet participants’ demands to train online if this is the preferred or only way to train, given the health and safety concerns of the ongoing pandemic. And thanks to the $12,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, people of all abilities will be able to access both options of the training.
"The impact of this Ontario Trillium Foundation grant cannot be underestimated,” said Caren Cao, President of NOW Basketball. “This grant has allowed additional space to be rented and accommodate the health and safety demand from our community. We can now serve our community better.”
NOW Basketball is committed to providing a safe and accessible basketball environment to all women in Toronto over the course of the year. If you wish to enquire about any of our programs or events, please visit the website at: www.nowbasketball.ca
